Make an image easier to share

Use Image Compressor when an attachment or website upload has a file-size limit. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image and select JPG or WebP output. Fixatoo re-encodes it at the quality you choose, then shows the resulting file size so you can decide whether it meets your destination's requirements.

Work toward a size limit

For a form with a 500 KB limit, enter 475 in Maximum size in KB to leave some room. Choose the format the form accepts. Enable smaller dimensions only if they still meet the form requirements. Leave the target blank when you prefer to choose quality manually. You can now enter a maximum size in KB. Fixatoo tests the actual output size and only returns a target result that fits. Allow smaller dimensions if quality changes alone cannot meet the limit; otherwise choose a larger target.

Should I choose JPG or WebP?

Choose JPG when the receiving website specifically requests JPEG files. Choose WebP when it is accepted and you want to compare a potentially smaller result. JPG turns transparent areas white. WebP can retain transparency. This tool does not produce a losslessly optimized PNG; it creates a new JPG or WebP instead.

Why is the output larger?

An image that is already efficiently compressed can become larger when re-encoded. Fixatoo reports the actual result rather than guaranteeing a reduction. Compare the new file against the original before keeping it. Check fine text, logos and sharp edges especially carefully because lossy compression can introduce visible artefacts.

Why does the size number look different?

The target uses decimal KB: 50 KB means 50,000 bytes. The result display uses 1024-byte units. A result displayed as 48.4 KB can therefore be close to a 50 KB target. The tool checks actual bytes, not the rounded display. A target is a maximum, not an exact file size.

If the image cannot reach your target

Try Allow smaller dimensions to reach the target, or choose a larger limit if your destination permits it. Check minimum width and height before accepting a smaller image. A damaged or unsupported file produces an error instead of a download; try opening the original in an image viewer and exporting a fresh JPG or PNG.
